a surprise blessing
this morning after worship a man came up to me asking me how things were. His name is John and he has really done some great things for helping the student ministry. He has voluteered his time to help train students how to run sound and all that stuff. He's very talented and we were sorry to see him take a change in work schedule that kept him from helping us on a consistent basis. Anyways (as we often do) we began to talk about our lighting and improvements that I am hoping to make and that kind of thing. Out of nowhere, he asked if the church had any policy on accepting donations. Immediately my spirit was lifted and i felt a warmness and calmness as he expressed his desire to donate money specifically to the student ministry. He concluded that any money he gave probably wouldn't go directly to us, so his plan (from the beginning) was to donate new equipment. That is a huge blessing, because we are in a budget crunch right now and probably wouldn't be able to afford the kind of equipment he's talking. He wants to give us 4 or 5 intelligent lights as well as board to operate it all. I am taking a stab here, but my guess is that all of this equipment probably runs close to $2000 or more! Wow! what a huge blessing! This is a direction that David and I and John have discussed going, but the cost of it all was a tough lump to swallow (even though we felt we needed it). John's gift will give us such a push in the right direction. I was so excited about this today that I couldn't even take a nap (crazy i know). Anyways, the overflow of God's blessing has moved John to be generous to us. It was all I could do to keep my composure in front of him. I was probably grinning from ear to ear. Can life get better?! I submit that it cannot!!
