honest thoughts on voting...
over the years many people like myself have taken harsh criticism for being a non-voter. I have heard every line in the book such as, "it is your responsibility," and "don't you care about unborn babies," or "if christians don't vote then our contry will ___________!" Admittedly, one of the reasons that I have not ever voted is because of a laziness/apathy, but not the only reason. In fact the people who try so very hard to get me (and others like me) to vote are the ones who make me not want to vote.

Over the past few months I have become increasingly aware that the news/media seems to be subliminally saying, "vote for John Kerry," while the conservative church and its many flyers (on the subject on Christian values) seem to be saying, "vote for George W. Now both sources are making statements and providing information that is crucial for deciding who a person ought to vote for right? Can we all agree that both political sides will color their information according to their agenda. That's expected. And stupid.

So lets say i am interested in voting. I begin to get information. The demo/liberal people are making me hate George W. and his incapability to lead our country, and the rep/conservatives are reminding me that J. Kerry is just shy of the Devil Himself...and to top it all off, both sides are saying that it's the "most important election for 50 years." Whoa, a lot of pressure huh? Who should I believe...who should I trust? Okay, so I just begin to talk to people about politics and I get the same passionate, one-sided responses, and I am left feeling like I you shouldn't make any choice at all. I can't decide who would be a better person for the job, because nobody is being honest. I want to talk to someone who is genuinely struggling with who to vote for. I want to talk to a demo. who thinks that John Kerry is spineless. I want to talk to a rep. who will admit that George W. is not a saint. Nobody seems to want to talk honestly about their man. This concerns me.

Well, people will tell me that if i don't vote, I can't criticize. Wrong. I can complain all I want. There is no rule.

Do you watch tv? All politicians hate each other. The negative ads kill me. They also make me not want to vote. So much negativity. After it is all said and done, both sides have basically shown how crappy of a candidate the other is. Everyone sucks in the end. Who shoud I vote for? NOBODY because it doesn't matter...whoever is elected is going to suck anyways. Maybe I could vote for the guy/gal who takes the high road and doesn't bash the other...but it doesn't happen. SO, I don't need to waste my time.

The lack of honesty makes me distrust the entire system. I can vote or not vote, and the whole system will still be just as deceitful.

That being said...I am registered to vote. First time ever. I am pretty sure that I will vote too.
