is prayer boring?
Yesterday in our staff meeting, we took prayer requests at the end of our time together. Then a staff member was assigned a prayer request and they just prayed in order. This was about 8 different prayers about 8 different things. Sounds like it should be quick right. Get started, pray about your one thing, and say amen. Well, people must have been feeling a little spiritual that morning, because a couple people prayed some really long prayers. I happened to be sitting in an extremely comfortable leather couch, and I started to drift. While one woman was praying, I know that I dozed for a few moments, and then caught myself. Of course (you know how this is) when I woke from a few seconds of sleep and she was still praying, it seemed like she had been praying for 10 minutes. Anyways, I decided to position myself so that I wasn't so comfortable...so I wouldn't fall asleep. All of a sudden, coming from the right side of the room, comes the sound of a single snore. A huge smile creeps across my face as I begin to realize what happened. When I looked up to see who it was, I caught a short glimpse of John putting his head down as quickly as he could. (He knew that if we made eye contact, we would have lost it while the prayer was still going on) I looked around and knew immediately who it was, then I kind of scanned the rest of the staff to see if anyone else heard it, but everyone else had their head down. I beginning to think that I was the only one who witnessed it. When staff meeting was over I looked over at John, and we immediately began laughing histerically. Turns out, about half the staff heard it. We had a good laugh about it at lunch.
