::THE FIRST EPISODE::
So here's the new breakthrough for These People Are Crazy...yes, I've turned it [or part of it at least] into a podcast. I have told a few people about my plans to make this happen, and the biggest response I've gotten so far is..."What's a podcast?" Sheesh. Okay, so for those of you who don't know yet.
-"podcast" is a word derived from the terms 'iPod' and 'broadcast'.
-some sites are referring podcasting as the revolution of radio. The idea is that instead of listening to a live broadcast, you download the show to your computer/mp3 player. Why would you do this? Because a broadcast [unless recorded] must be listened to in 'real time.' In other words, you have to be in the right location, have the radio tuned into the right station, and be there in the right time frame. For example: I used to listen to the MJ Morning Show. It was on from 6-10 during the week on z107.7 i don't listen to it anymore b/c I live in IN and it only airs in St. Louis and Florida.
-a clear advantage to podcasting is that you can listen to them any time you want. You no longer have to "tune-in" at the right time.
-podcasting is for people [like me] who would never be able to have their own radio program. All you need is the ability to record the show and put it on your computer, the internet, and about 5 bucks a month.
-podcasting is for people [like you] who wouldn't mind listening to a radio program if it were a little easier. Even if it is a poorly produced program created by your dumb friend who has too much free time.
-VERY IMPORTANT. You do not have to have an iPod in order to listen to a podcast, but...
-iTunes has adopted podcasts, and now you can simply subscribe to any podcast you want [AND THEY ARE ALL FREE] and iTunes [which is also free] will auomatically update it for you when you open the program! [which means it will automatically update your iPod too]
-there are thousands of podcasts to choose from that contain every topic/interest that is out there. so check em out.
enough about that. If you'd like to hear my first podcast, go to iTunes and subscribe to it. You can search for it by the author (me) or by the title (These People Are Crazy) -OR- just click on the PODCAST UPDATE at the top of this post. (if you are viewing this page .xml, you'll probably need to view my actual html page).
A VERY special thanks to Isaac Gaff and the THE BLUE DOG BANTER for helping me get this project off the ground [and being an overall inspiration]. Please check out their podcast, it is WAY better than mine. Just click on the words "blue dog banter" to get to their website, or just type in www.bluedogbanter.com OR you can look them up on iTunes and subscribe for free [it's in the podcasts section].
hope you enjoy the show, leave me some comments about it.
A SIDE NOTE: I know I said you don't have to have an iPod to listen to podcasts, but [because of my lack of knowledge] I accidentally posted my podcast in a format that is [i believe] only playable in iTunes and iPods...oops, I will post an mp3 version if anyone asks...seriously if everyone would just get an iPod, this wouldn't be a problem.
