Before I forget...

I need to write this down. Yesterday, I went with a student to call on this lady. Before I got there, this is what I knew about her. She was on her way home and her car broke down. She had no money and no food, but she did have six children ranging from teen to tots. She was staying at the arch budget motel. And was it ever a dump. So the first time I wished I wasn't pulling up in such a nice car. We had brought a couple of bags of groceries for her. Her name was Gwen, and she had six kids and she was married, but I have no idea where the father was. She was close to hitting bottom, and was very grateful that we arrived with the food. When I shook her hand, she drew me in for a hug - that was a little out of my comfot zone but not a big deal. We brought in the food and just began talking with her outside. That's when things got interesting. She told us an amazing story. She said that the day before when she had no food, no money, and a broken van, they met a drunk guy outside of the motel who began talking with her and her kids. While the kids just laughed, she listened intently. He told her that God had sent him to tell her that she was going to be alright, and that she would be getting what she needed. He also told her that he had been waiting for her at that motel for three weeks!!! That's weird. He waited 3 weeks at the motel just for HER! Then said that God told him to say these comforting things. The next day, we show up giving her food. Another church had arranged to have her car fixed for her, and one of the ladies gave her more money so that she could stay in the motel until her van was fixed. Talk about awesome. Even stranger is the fact that the very next day after the prophecy of the drunk man he was no where to be found. He was staying in the motel and must have checked out the day after he spoke to that lady - the same day we showed up in the afternoon with the provisions. Gwen said she was the only believer in her whole family - I prayed with her and talked to her a little more. It was such a wonderful story (and she's conviced the man was either an angel or a prophet - and I am too) so I asked her if she would mind if I told it to people. Such a cool testimony and one in which God's care and provision are clearly seen. Praise God for his acts of kindness and his servants who bring the message of the Gospel. Amen
