Okay so the instructions for day 6 are to simply "mash the bag." The only problem is that I didn't "feed" the bag. On day 5 you are supposed to add 1c of flour, 1c of sugar, and 1c of milk. When I got home from work, I opened our fridge and saw some milk. There may have been enough for 1c, but I never gave it a shot b/c the 'sell by' date was Oct. 15th. So I've had this bag of batter fermenting (rotting) in my house for a few days now and I'm not willing to risk adding spoiled milk, so I just go to bed.
Well I wake up and I feel guilty that the friendship bread is about to become the thrown-out bread so I quickly add 1c of flour and 1c of sugar. On my way to work I purchase a small container of milk and add it. So now it's GUILT Bread. Some people in the office joked that young women should be given a starter bag of Revenge Bread to determine whether or not they were ready to have a child. Well I know I'm not ready. The only living thing in our house (besides myself and Lucas) is the mold growing on the leftover spaghetti, and our only house plant is plastic!
I just hope the whole scheduling of making this bread has a little bit of breathing room.
